” Ethnocolor “: rencontre avec Rozenn Leboucher

Elle est jeune, pétillante et bourrée de talent. Rozenn Leboucher est aussi une boulimique de pellicules. Depuis douze ans, elle est toujours à la recherche d’une nouvelle “Ethnie”, d’une nouvelle fête traditionnelle à figer sur la pellicule afin d’immortaliser l’instant. Et c’est un vrai trésor quelle nous dévoile à la galerie Rancilio. Dialoguer avec la petite Bandolaise est passionnant, son aventure magnifique se lit dans ses yeux et transpire de réalisme dans ses clichés.

Pourquoi cette quête

C’est le projet de toute ma vie: je voudrais découvrir et photographier le plus de fêtes traditionnelles et folkloriques avant qu’elles ne disparaissent, pour ensuite les faire découvrir au public.

Mais dans quel but?

J’aimerais à terme, inscire certaines d’entre elles menacées de disparaitre par l’intrusion du modernisme ou par l’extinction de certaines peuplades, au patrimoine immatériel de l’Unesco. C’est la garantie de ne pas oublier l’existence des individus et de leurs coutumes.

Quelle est la prochaine destination inscrite sur votre agenda?

J’arrive de la Sibérie et je repars pour la Chine, dans un autre but cette fois, je participe comme en 2009 ou je fus lauréate, au concours Humanity photo award en partenariat avec l’Unesco. Mais j’aimerais par la suite découvrir le folklore au Pakistan et au Moyen-Orient, qui reste peu connu pour moi.

Et concernant votre exposition “ Ethnocolor”?

Cette exposition tourne depuis trois ans et reste active en permanence par le renouvellement des photos. De nouvelles viennent la compléter régulièrement. Elle reste à disposition des galeries en France comme en Europe et devrait pouvoir faire, elle aussi, le tour du monde.

She is young with an effervescent appearance and full of talent. Rozenn Leboucher is also workaholic with roll films. Since 12 years, she is always looking for a new “Ethnic groups”, a new traditional festivals to freeze on film in order to immortalize the instant. And she reveals a real treasure at the Rancilio Gallery. Talking with this native woman from Bandol is passionating. Through her eyes, we can read her wonderful adventure revealed by her realistic snapshots.

Why such a quest around the world?

It is a life project: I want to discover and photograph the maximum traditional festivities possible before they disappear and afterwards, give knowledge of them to the public.

In which purpose?

I finally would like that some of them threatened by the modernism and the extinction of ethnic groups, can be register on Unesco intangible heritage. It is the most secure way to keep the us & customs of our world heritage.

What is the next destination that you have planned in your diary?

I am arriving from Siberia and on a different aim, I am going to China in order to participate to the official ceremony of a photographic award ‘Humanity photo award’ in partnership with Unesco, which I had won a couple of year ago. Later, if I can, I would like to go to Pakistan and the middle east which I don’t know to add more diversity to my project.

What about your “Ethnocolor” exhibition?

This exhibition is touring since three years, and keep a fresh look by the renewal of my new documentary photos. It stays available in French Gallery & Europe, and will hopefully go around the world.
